The Cumberland awarded funding of £15,741 at a time when Calderwood House most needed urgent help to keep the hostel staffed and running through the early days of lockdown in Covid-19. Sometimes funders want to support a “new and shiny” project but the Cumberland Community Fund (managed by Cumbria Community Foundation) just listened to what challenges were being faced by Rachel, Stephen and the team, and they simply allowed us to pay our staff and manage core costs at a critical time.

We are so grateful for this straightforward and impactful support, and delighted that they returned to create a video about Calderwood House, the staff and residents. It shows how the funding has made a difference to us and how, just as the Cumberland team are passionate about making a real difference in local community, we at Calderwood House are passionate about inspiring change.

Thank you to all the team. You most certainly make a difference to us!
